Conception

“Crawl” is a experimental video consited of digital still images shaped around some simple rules. Most basic one is that: while walking, take one photograph per ten steps with Digital still camera. One day, I have kept shooting photographs from sunrise to sunset, complying with rules. Carrying these rules that I decide before doing from sunrise to sunset, I kept taking photographs and moving along with huge motif (electric towers and lines). In such a extraordinary time, I take a session with tenporary environments and take their visible and audible information.

Note

Like this case, according some rules while shooting, repeated actions are automated and . On contrary, I felt rising some new senses and way of perception. To concretely, they are not so much compositional senses or forms as new apprehension of air and sun’s position. These awareness paid forward me to next action immediately. So this work, based on considering those recognition while shooting, was created to express how to show the acts of shooting itself. (Oct. 10, 2006.)
