Conception

‘Earthen Bodied Argur’ was a dance parformance project in Hyogo Performing Arts Center in January, 2007. We collaborate with dancers and ceramics. Participated as a member of the image analysis and expression team for dance performance. Then, I analysed dancers movement by digital video camera and computed amount and direction of movement for OpenGL image projection. Also engaged in shooting and editing a video clip for archiving.
This projects brings together the fields of sound, video and image analysis in order to create an environment that acts as an extension to dancers’ bodies. This space influences the dancers’ senses and leads them to improvise new movements. These are in turn captured by a computer and used tocreate sounds and images. The dancers do not simply inhabit the stage, they are actively creating it. Sound and video performers are also inflenced by the dance, and manually adjust the environment accordingly.
