Image Fulgurator

“Image Fulgurator”は先日発表されたArs ElecronicaのInteractive Art部門でGolden Nicaを受賞した作品で、撮影された写真に別のイメージやテキストを挿入するというデバイス作品です。カメラを改造した型のデバイスで、焚かれたフラッシュに同期する形で撮影される対象に”Image Fulgurator”から別イメージが投影され、結果的に写真に残るというもの。”fulgur” がラテン語で稲光｛いなびかり｝(lightning)という意味らしいです。いろいろとデバイスそのものについて調べてみたところ、Arduinoで動いている(とか今はソフトウェアで動作するとか)とあったのですが、ほんとかな？割とシンプルな装置ぽいので、スレーブ状態で受光するセンサーがあれば問題なさそうなんだけど。ともかく、コンセプトとか理論的な点が高く評価されたようですね。デバイス持っているかんじとか、制作者本人もひげだし、そういうところからなんとなく言いたいことが伝わるものがあります。

“Image Fulgurator” is a device which insert another images and texts into pictures and won a prize “Golden Nica” of interactive part in Prix Ars Electronica, most efficient award of Media Arts these days. It’s a device bending camera, syncs flashes from other camera(ex. in sightseeing spot), then “Image Fulgurator” also throw a image, at the result the photograph records.”fulgur” in Latin means lightning. I researched about the device itself, someone said the censor works mainly by arduino (or now taking care of software) but is it really true? It seems to work simply, so I guess there’s no problem if censor is working detecting light as slave mode. Anyway the concept and theory must be evaluated. The set of devices and artist who has rich beard, are both really cool.
