“The Photographs Not Taken”は、写真についての覚書を、現代の写真家の哲学的な思考や記憶からあぶりだそうとしてるサイトです。方法としては、使っているツールやテクニックなどの技術的なこと抜きで、アイデアや直感、それらへのリアクションとか記憶や経験、世界に対する認識から、写真について考えようとする、とあります。まだできたばかりのサイトみたいですけど、Alec SothやChristian Pattersonといった写真家が参加してるので、英語勉強がてら読むのは良いかもしれません。割と渋い系。

Image Fulgurator

“Image Fulgurator”は先日発表されたArs ElecronicaのInteractive Art部門でGolden Nicaを受賞した作品で、撮影された写真に別のイメージやテキストを挿入するというデバイス作品です。カメラを改造した型のデバイスで、焚かれたフラッシュに同期する形で撮影される対象に”Image Fulgurator”から別イメージが投影され、結果的に写真に残るというもの。”fulgur” がラテン語で稲光｛いなびかり｝(lightning)という意味らしいです。いろいろとデバイスそのものについて調べてみたところ、Arduinoで動いている(とか今はソフトウェアで動作するとか)とあったのですが、ほんとかな？割とシンプルな装置ぽいので、スレーブ状態で受光するセンサーがあれば問題なさそうなんだけど。ともかく、コンセプトとか理論的な点が高く評価されたようですね。デバイス持っているかんじとか、制作者本人もひげだし、そういうところからなんとなく言いたいことが伝わるものがあります。

Deleted Images
“Deleted Images”は本来ならメディアから消去するような、ピンぼけ・手ぶれ画像を掲載するブログです。セレクトしてるみたいだけど、誰でもDeletedImages@gmail.comにメールを添付すれば画像を投稿可能です。記録として保存されないイメージの集積ってコンセプトもかっこいいんだけど、普通に一枚一枚の失敗写真もその並べ方も良い。選んでるひとのセンスがすごくいいんじゃないかな。
低解像度とかノイズ、手ぶれ、ピンぼけとかグリッチな感じ、撮影者の意図から逸れた所謂”失敗”写真が、デジタルカメラの技術の発展でどんどん生まれないようになってると思うのだけれど、それが持ってる良さなり、味というものがあるんじゃないかと最近思います。メディア性というか。そういうものも含めて面白いサイトです。

i heart photograph
“i heart photograph” は主にコンテンポラリーかつカッティング・エッジな写真を紹介する海外のサイト。なので、紹介もすべて英語なんだけれど、アップされてる写真の組をみていると、何となくその写真の良さとか通底するキュレーションのセンスというか目の良さが感じられる非常に大好きなサイトの一つです。
キュレーションしてるLaurel Ptakさんという女性へのインタビューがここ、写真家(!)でもある彼女の作品がここにあります。インタビュー記事をよんでもらえばわかると思いますが、I Heart Magazineという雑誌の創刊準備もしている様子。

先日紹介したノルウェーの写真家、Rasmus Norlanderもすごい近い時期に紹介されていました。同じソース見てたのかな、掲載写真は違うけど。

Jonathan Puckey
アムステルダムのデザイナーJonathan Puckeyのサイトです。ProcessingやScriptgraherといったプログラミングとデザインを組み合わせて作品を作っています。画像はプログラムによって、一つの映画のシーンを一定のTime-basedなルールに基づいてグリッド状に細かく切断して字幕部分をグラフィカルに配置した本のページです。使われているのはソフィア・コッポラの”Lost In Translation”のシーン！”Killing Time”というタイトルは、洒落っ気を込めたダブルミーニングだと思います。
インスピレーション元になっている彼のHSLのポスターもいいです。作品の詳細映像や詳しい説明は元サイトで。
