Getty Imagesによる映像/写真+音楽のストリーミングサイト。そのときの気分に応じてパラメーターを設定すると、それにあった感じの音楽と絵イメージが表示再生されるというもの。こういうものも出てきて便利になってきているなーとは思うんですけど、同時にそのサービスに深く共感するということもないです、でもなんでなんだろう。そこに打ち出された強い、何か意思や欲望が見えないからでしょうか。

This is a site streaming audio+visual. Setting your feelings with parameter or preset at the moment, the site choises image and music that seems to match your mood. I think this sort of webservice appearing and makes us comfortable but at the same time I realize that I don’t have deep fellow feeling with it. I wonder… I guess because I cannot see strong will or desire to change something through it.

Sarah Pickeringはロンドン在住のフォトグラファーで、紹介する作品”Explosion”のように、爆発や火災の写真を撮っています。関連記事によると、軍隊や警察の演習の現場に行って撮影してるみたいです。そのほか、”Fire Scene”という作品は火災現場の写真、これどうやって撮っているのか気になります。火事の事件性と、構図、ライティングのスタティックな印象のミスマッチが面白いです。

Sarah Pickering is Londoner photographer and introduced work “Explosion” is shooting the moment of something exploding and burning out. From related articles, she seems to accompany with army and police on exercises and taking those photographs. Her other pictures, “Fire Scenes” I wonder how she shoot them. Mismatch between mood of emergencies and statics of compositions and lighting is quite interesting.

Shane Lavalette はボストンにあるTufts Universityの学生。写真もさることながら、Journalでまとめられている写真関連の記事も読み応えがあります。”Remain in Light”という写真出版物のエディターをやっていて、こういうふうに、作家スタイルのライティングではない、純粋に様々な紹介記事を書く技術をもったフォトグラファーを、ちらほらみかけるような気がします。時代なんですかね。

写真は涼しげだったので紹介しました。

Shane Lavelette is a student of Tufts University, Boston. Not only His photographs, but also the articles he wrote about photography as Journal, are both worth seeing, subscribing. He acts as a co-editor of publishing about fine art photography “Remain in Light”. Like him, I often see the photographer who can write readable introduction and arguments, not the artistic style. The new generation has come.

Beatrice Jansenはオランダ王立美術アカデミー・ハーグ校(Kabk)の学生らしいです。Kabk自体がインタラクティブ・メディアやデザインなど面白いことをやってるんだけれど、彼女の写真もすごくいい。写真のなかの空間が意識されているというか、平面と奥行きのある空間との接合のさせ方がうまいというか。そのほかの写真もいいので見てみてください。

Beatrice Jansen is a photographer studied in Kabk. Kabk(Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten Den Haag) is an unique art school I had great interested in interactive media and design, also her works are splendid. I can’t explain the point of her works well,but I love her consious of depth(z-index), making connection between 2D and 3D space in photograph.

Phillip ToledanoはNY在住の写真家です。この作品はテレフォン・セックス・サービスのオペレーター、(いわゆるサクラ)のポートレイトを集めたシリーズです。短いインタビューが片ページにあって、テキストと写真に引き込まれます。写真家本人のインタビュー記事がこちらにあります。本が今秋に出版予定だそうです。

Phillip Toledano is a photographer lives in nyc. This work is a series taking portrait of phone sex oparators, male and female. Brief monologues of operator is on the one side of pages, thus I focus both her/his voice and silent presence. An interview of photographer is here. The book will be published this autumn.

“oobject”の記事“14 cameras that look just like guns”を紹介します。写真銃は1882年にエティエンヌ＝ジュール・マレーというフランスの生理学者が発明したというものですが、そこから派生した銃型カメラ(含トイカメラ)を集めたコレクション。日本だとコニカ(現在コニカ・ミノルタ)の創始者小西六が第二次大戦中に製作していたようです。

“oobject”はあるカテゴリーに属するガジェットやイメージを収集して、掲載するサイトです。撮る写真家(や制作者、デザイナー)ではなく、撮影されたイメージや作られたもの自体が基準となっているので、結果として集められる写真のコレクションも多様だし、そのクオリティもさまざまだったり。でも、逆にそこから見えてくる全体というものもあるんじゃないでしょうか。サブタイトルに”a curation creation”とあるとおり、編集やチョイスする視点の良さが、オリジナリティを獲得するということは最近web見ていて実感しますし、そういう意味でも、十分見るに値する面白い集め方をしてると思います。このへんとかこのへんも面白いです。

Today I’ll introduce you to an article “14 cameras that look just like guns” from “oobject”. Camera gun is invented by Etienne-Jules Marey, a French physiologist,in 1882. This is a collection from the history of camera gun including toy camera. In Japan, a founder of Konica, Roku Konishi producted the same kind of gadget in term of WW2.

“oobject” is a site posting collections of images and gadgets belonged in one category. Not oriented photograher (or designer, producer),but just images that taken and object created themselves, so the collections have varieties and quorities is different as a result. But I think that we can see the details from  there. I see the subtitle, “a curation creation”,then got the point that some sorts of the senses of editing and choices get an originality. I have the same feelings while browsing websites, thus it’s worth while to see if your antenna perceives something. I also had interest in this and this.
